Tewksbury, MA

The Staveleys of Tewksbury, Massachusetts emigrated to America in 1888.  This Staveley line originates in Stockton on the Forest, in Yorkshire.   Benjamin Staveley was born in 1844 in York St. Margaret, to parents Thomas Staveley and Maria SCOTT.  Benjamin is residing with his parents in 1861 in St. Mary Bishophill, York.  Benjamin married Harriet ARMITAGE in 1864 and initially settled his family in Fixby, Yorkshire.  The last we see this family in England is during the 1881 census in Fixby.

Benjamin and Harriet's eldest son, Benjamin Armitage Staveley, married Elizabeth THORNTON in 1891 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, and is living in Chelmsford, Massachusetts in 1900.

Son Scott married Mary HILL, and moved to Providence, Rhode Island by 1910.

Son Arthur married Ann (nee?) and is living in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1910.

In 1910 son Henry is married and living in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

son Thomas married Emma BERKETT on August 30, 1899 in Tewksbury, Massachusetts and is living in Medford, Massachusetts in 1910.

Benjamin and Harriet move to Lowell, Massachusetts by 1910.
