William Staveley was born in 1844, the son of William Staveley and Bridget REGAN of Worsley, Lancashire.  He married Caroline SCHOFIELD in 1867 in Manchester, but Caroline died in 1886, shortly after her daughter Lilian was born in Prestwich.  William's second wife was Jane Sheriff CHEETHAM.  Jane has been previously married, as evidenced by the presence of two step children in William's household in 1891:

William's Son Frederic W. Staveley is residing in Salford in 1901.  William's son, Charles Henry Staveley, appears to be a boarder in the BOGG household in Chorlton Upon Medlock in 1901.  He is listed as unmarried, with an occupation of Commercial Clerk.

Joseph Francis Staveley was born in Sheffield in 1847, the son of Francis Staveley of Dore, Derbyshire and Amelia Ann SHAW.  His mother died shortly after childbirth, and his father seems to have disowned him.  In 1851, at the age of 4 years, Joseph is lodging in the LAITHWAITE household in Horwich, Lancashire.  His father Francis remarried by 1861 and is living in Beighton, Derbyshire.

Joseph married Mary Jane NOAR September 2, 1866 in Manchester, Lancashire.  Joseph consistently gives his place of birth as Horwich, and at one point gives his place of birth as Bolton.  He has not been located anywhere in the 1861 census, and thus far cannot be connected to any known Bolton or Horwich area Staveleys.
