George Staveley was born in 1832 in Chorley, son of William Staveley of Aysgarth and Bridget.  George was raised in Worsley, Lancashire, and is believed to be William's eldest son.  In 1854 George married Sarah Moss at Eccles, St. Mary's.  In 1871, George and Sarah are found living in Salford, but by the 1881 census they have moved to Wales.
