Grantham, Lincolnshire

The earliest Staveleys of Grantham appear to be the family of Joseph Staveley b. 1761 and Elizabeth TILLSON, who were married in Grantham on June 23, 1791 and had the following children in the parish:

Lucy Staveley b. January 26, 1792 Grantham, Lincolnshire
Edward Staveley b. May 10, 1793 Grantham, Lincolnshire
Elizabeth Staveley b. May 1, 1794 Grantham, Lincolnshire
Edward Tillson Staveley b. February 18, 1796 Grantham, Lincolnshire
Mary Ann Staveley b. March 6, 1798 Grantham, Lincolnshire

 

Daughter Lucy married William WITHERS on May 16, 1815 in Grantham. 

Daughter Mary Ann Staveley married Edward HARDING on July 10, 1822 in Leicester. She was buried in Great Gonerby, Lincolnshire on April 21, 1878.

Joseph was buried at St. Wulfram, Grantham, on November 18, 1825 at the age of 64 years.


 

William Staveley b. July 20, 1828 in Newark, Nottinghamshire is the son of William Staveley of Newark and Sarah.  William married Ann CARLINE on May 22, 1848 at St. Martin's Lincoln, Lincolnshire and found residing in Grantham in 1861.  Ann was the daughter of Patrick CARLINE:

William died the following year in 1862 in Grantham.  It is unknown what happened to his wife Ann.  By 1871 two of their daughters, Harriett and Julia, are boarding in the EDWARDS household in Bollin Fee, Cheshire:
