Lancashire
Staveleys have long been associated with Lancashire, but during the mid-1800s, the promise of work lured many new Staveley families into the region. Some families came from North Yorkshire, Westmorland, even as far away as London.
During the Industrial Revolution Lancashire experienced a boom in the cotton and textile industries. By the eve of the second World War the engineering industry was critical to the manufacture of radar systems, and the aerospace industry exploded with the production of the now famous 'Lancaster bombers' that were manufactured in Trafford Park. The paper and printing industries, shoe and slipper works, and chemical manufacturing were also critical to Lancashire's escalated rate of economic growth.
Staveleys occupied all of these industries during the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, and Staveley families are found living all throughout the county by the end of the 1800's, and some can still be found living in Lancashire today...
