St. Cuthbert, City of York

Francis Staveley was born abt. 1826 to parents Benjamin Staveley and Mary HUTCHINSON of Stockton on the Forest.  In 1851 Francis can be found living with his brother Thomas in St. Mary Bishophill Senior.  Francis married Jane STEPHENSON in 1852, and was living in York St. Nicholas in 1861.

Daughters Mary, Emma, and Charlotte are absent from the household in 1871.  Daughter Mary appears to be a servant in the HOLMES household in York St. Maurice.  Emma is a servant in the PEART household in Micklegate.  Daughter Charlotte has not been located in 1871.

Francis died in 1873 aged 47 years.

In 1881 we find his widow Jane with two children living at home:

Jane died later that year, at the reported age of 47 years.   Her son William died in 1885 at the age of 16 years.

In 1891, daughter Frances is a general domestic servant, employed in the WILSON household in St. Mary Bishophill Senior.  She has not been found in the 1901 census.
