Benjamin and Harriet have not been located on the 1891 census records. It is known that sometime after 1881 this family began to emigrate to America. Benjamin and Harriet are found living in Tewksbury, Massachusetts in 1900. Benjamin's wife Harriet died in Lowell Massachusetts on March 15, 1927. Benjamin Staveley himself died in Lowell, MA on June 7, 1931.
Benjamin b. 1844 and his wife Harriet appear to have had at least three more children prior to emigrating to the US. The 1900 US Federal Census for Tewksbury, MA shows three daughters, Edith, Agnes and Eva living at home with their parents.
Some passenger records for this family have been found. Daughter Christiana is found sailing to Boston, Massachusetts August 25, 1895 on board the Scythia. Her brother, Benjamin Armitage Staveley, married Elizabeth THORNTON in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. On September 3, 1914 Benjamin, a Wheelwright by trade, and his wife Elizabeth arrive in Boston on board the Arabic (see Immigration Records), and initially settled in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
